Christian study and formation flow from the gifts Christ gives in His Church. Through the faithful teaching of Holy Scripture, we are strengthened in faith, instructed in sound doctrine, and equipped to live as His people in the world. At Christ Lutheran, opportunities for learning are offered for children, youth, and adults throughout the year.
Whether through Sunday School, Bible study, catechesis, or Vacation Bible School, we gather around God’s Word to grow in understanding and in the grace of our Lord Jesus Christ.
Adult Bible Class meets each Sunday at 10:15 AM, following the Divine Service. Join us for coffee, fellowship, and a deeper study of God’s Word as we grow together in faith and understanding. As we carefully study the Scriptures, the Lord strengthens us in Christ, grounds us in the truth, and gives us greater confidence in what we believe and confess. Regular time in the Word is an important part of our life together as a congregation.
Whether you are a longtime member or visiting for the first time, you are welcome to ask questions, join the discussion, or simply listen and learn. And if Bible study feels intimidating, rest assured that no one will be put on the spot or asked to read aloud unless they volunteer.
Children’s Sunday School is held from September through May and meets at 10:15 a.m. following the Divine Service. Children ages three and older are invited to grow in their knowledge of God’s Word and to learn more about what Jesus has done for them. Through Bible stories, crafts, prayer, and song, children are nurtured in faith and come to know and trust in Jesus Christ as their Savior.
Confirmation is a course of instruction in the Christian faith as taught in Martin Luther’s Small Catechism. Through careful study of Scripture, students learn the Ten Commandments, the Apostles’ Creed, the Lord’s Prayer, Holy Baptism, Confession, and the Lord’s Supper. In this way, they are grounded in God’s Word and strengthened in their understanding of Christ’s saving work.
Children generally begin Confirmation around age nine and receive regular instruction from the Pastor. As they learn the Catechism and grow in understanding, they are prepared to confess the faith publicly and to receive the Lord’s Supper faithfully and confidently. Confirmation provides young Christians with a firm foundation in what we believe, why we believe it, and how Christ continues to give His gifts through His Church.
If you desire to become a member of Christ Ev. Lutheran Church, the pastor would be glad to meet with you. Those who are not current members of sister congregations of The Lutheran Church—Missouri Synod are invited to receive instruction in the Christian faith through the study of Luther’s Small Catechism.
Vacation Bible School is held each summer and is open to children throughout our community at no cost. Centered on Holy Scripture, VBS provides faithful teaching of God’s Word through Bible lessons, hymn singing, crafts, and activities in a joyful and Christ-centered environment. It is our prayer that through this time, children grow in faith, make new friends, and are drawn closer to Jesus Christ and His saving promises. Please watch our newsletter and Facebook page for upcoming VBS dates and registration information.
